Six Day Gods Pocket & Queen Charlotte
Strait Sea Otter Expedition

sea otter If you are looking for an expedition style kayak tour away from the crowds but still provides exceptional wildlife viewing and spectacular scenery then you should consider our Six-day God’s Pocket and Queen Charlotte Strait Sea Otter Expedition. This tour departs from Port Hardy at the northern tip of Vancouver Island and heads into the beautiful and remote Gods Pocket Marine Provincial Park before heading west and into the home of our local Sea Otter population. God’s Pocket is an almost undisturbed wilderness area teeming with marine wildlife, seabirds and first nation history. Choose a tour that spans the full or new moon and enjoy the added bonus of super low tides and the invertebrate sea life that can be found simply by looking over the side of your kayak.

Enroute opportunities abound to observe all manner of marine wildlife that call this area home, including Orca & Humpback Whales, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Dolphins, Porpoises as well as Black Bears and the occasional Wolf. Once in the vicinity of the Otters we will spend a couple of days paddling between and around the islands of the small archipelago. To maximize the paddling and new vistas and to ensure we get home when promised, our return to Port Hardy is by water taxi.

This tour is ideal for those who wish to specifically share time with the Sea Otter in an unobtrusive manner and in an area of outstanding scenery while enjoying six days of wilderness kayaking. This part of Queen Charlotte Strait is generally much quieter than Johnstone Strait but the chances of seeing Orca are considerably less.

While this tour has plenty to keep the experienced kayaker interested, the use of the water taxi brings it within the capability of most novices. Familiarity with wilderness camping may enhance your enjoyment of this tour. Our kayaks are usually stable tandem fibreglass expedition kayaks, however single kayaks may be available for those with previous kayaking experience and knowledge of self-rescue techniques.

Escape the motel for a couple of nights spend them under the stars on a remote beach while you listen for the sound of a whale blowing in the distance. With tours departing every Saturday, you can be sure we have a God’s Pocket and Queen Charlotte Strait Six Day Sea Otter Expedition that suits your schedule.
