One of the foremost reasons people come to Telegraph Cove, on the north end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, is for the opportunity to kayak with Killer whales. With over 200 Northern Resident Orca, or Killer whales, frequenting this area, it is recognized as the best place in the world, to encounter and sea kayak in the vicinity of these majestic mammals. Telegraph Cove is situated a mere 16km from the borders of the Robson Bight Killer Whale Ecological Reserve on Vancouver Island, and the internationally renowned Orca rubbing beaches. While nobody may enter this protected Orca or killer whale reserve, our sea kayaking tours will take you to the very borders. Similar beaches just a couple of kilometres away serve as our wilderness campgrounds.

North Island Kayak is located in the heart of Telegraph Cove which is on on the north end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. We live and work within the daily rhythms of Telegraph Cove and have an up close and personal respect, passion and understanding for the local environment, the people and the creatures that call it home. Our home base and store is uniquely located next to the only dedicated kayak launch site in Telegraph Cove, the water taxi loading dock and boardwalk and only seconds away from Johnstone Strait, the realm of Orcas or Killer whales. We are in the privileged position of seeing the Killer whales from the end of our dock. We frequently get to watch the Orcas, otters, eagles, mink and dolphins without even leaving the Cove.
